do I need to send a reply to the manager ?

hi guys , I took my second interview today with the department manager and his director,the 1st interview was perfect and met with the manager only, today the director he did not ask me too many questions and did not say too much. I was not perfect this time when I answered their questions , but I did great job on a technical test that was provided by that manager.the director gave his business card to me when I was leaving the conference room.

after meeting them, I sent emails to say thank you to the manager and director, the manager sent a reply to me after 1 hour and says "Thanks for the follow up and for taking the time to meet with us again."

now , I really want to ask him how i am close to this position.
do you guys have any idea, shoud I do that , if so , how ? I mean "how do I start writing my reply to him".


Give him a couple of days and then email him again to check on your status in the hiring process.

keep it light. mention something that you discussed and how you will fit their needs.
