What is a good way to perform a column?
I've got a regular column (5 times during 40 weeks). I'm at university, and my public are high, mostly (bio)technical students. The paper is part of my studentsociety (not from my study but from university).(in the Netherlands)
Do you have tips how to perform a great column? I just got it and I don't really know what the best is; writing about things I find on my path (I am used to that) or writing about theme's and putting critical notes by the news, or more important things?
and are there some things I should keep in mind, writing columns? I like keeping personal but till which level should I do that? Any other tips?

I would get older copies of the paper and see what topics are usually covered.
Try to either write about things not normally discussed or maybe try to give a new view of topics they normally discuss.
