Is it possible to automatically stop a new line in MS Word?
I am writing quite a technical document in MS Word and rather annoyingly things like special co-ordinates, e.g. (1-1-1) will automatically go onto a new line. I know in HTML there are ways to ensure that sections of text stays on one line, is it possible to do the same in Word?
It looks like Word thinks those -'s are hyphens. Try turning off automatic hyphenation, this way:
In versions of Word prior to Word 2007:
1. Click the Tools->Language->Hyphenation menu item.
2. Uncheck the "Automatically hyphenate document" checkbox.
3. Click OK.
In Word 2007, possibly 2010:
1. Click the Page Layout tab on the Ribbon.
2. Click the Hyphenation button in the Page Setup group.
3. Click None.
If that doesn't work, you can use a non-breaking hyphen (CTRL/SHIFT/_ (underscore)) instead of the normal - to prevent hyphenation at those points.
Hope that helps.
