Should people be made to surrender their guns in the U.S. for a violence-free society? Please answer, I need..?
...need material for a Technical Writing Course and am conducting this survey for the same. Try to include your real/nickname and State. Pls remember...every 17 minutes, someone in the United States dies because of gun violence. THANKS IN ADVANCE. I NEED A LOT OF ANSWERS. PLS WRITE YOUR FEEDBACK.
No.
First of all, we have a right to own firearms according to the second amendment. If people were made to surrender their guns, it would be a direct violation of that amendment, and there would be a HUGE backlash.
Second, the only people who would give up their guns willingly would be otherwise law-abiding citizens. Criminals would keep theirs and be able to commit their crimes without fear of being shot.
Third, while some citizens would give up their guns, many would not. I would be included in this group. There is no effective way to get all guns from Americans. It just can't happen.
What we need is education and a removal of fear of guns. People see a gun on someone and immediately think "criminal". I legally carry a firearm openly to confront this image, and I get the watchful eye all the time.
Take a look around some pro-gun websites and you'll find many arguments for the legal owning and carrying of firearms. I've included two links below to help you out.
