Technical Writing Interview Questions

written test for job interview?

I applied for an instructional assistant for our school district. They sent me a letter today saying I have to take a written test tomorrow. It consists of technical knowledge, skills and abilities that is normally administered and may cover duties for the position.
My concern is that it is such short notice. I wouldn't be worried about it but I don't even know what I should expect and what kinds of questions.
If I score high enough then I come back for an oral interview/exam.
Does anyone have ideas of what I should do to prepare, bring and wear?
Thanks!

I've taken this test before so I can tell you EXACTLY what's going to be on it.

Basic Math--addition, subtraction, decimals, fractions. They will provide you a calculator and scratch paper.

Reading--Comprehension. Do you understand what you are reading?

Writing--Punctuation, Grammar, sentence structure, capitalization, all the basic English stuff.

Spelling--This one is tricky because your eyes can play tricks on you. They pick words with double letters to see if you can tell which ones have the double letters. This is multiple choice. For example, they'll give you...
a) embarrassment
b) embarassment
c) embarrasment
d) embarasment

...and ask you to pick the correct one. Other examples are occurrence, recommendation, and committee.

Editing--They'll give you a letter or formal document and ask you to edit it. This is nothing more than what you used in the Writing section (capitalization, punctuation, etc.), although I do believe you need to know spacing. By that I mean, how many spaces you skip from the date, to the company address, and from the address to the salutation.

Typing--They give you two tries, and take your better score of the two. You have one or two minutes to type the document on a stand to the left of you.

Bring a calculator, ID, and the letter they sent you.
Don't be worried. I had never taken a test like this before and I qualified for the highest level of positions on my FIRST try.
