What problem / situation would you like to see changed in your work place?

I am a senior in college studing Management Technology and in my Organizational Behavior class, I have to write a report about a situation / problem in my work place that I would like to see change and step by step details on how I would impliment it as a manager. I was just wondering and interested in what other employees think about what and how things should be run differently in their own work field!!?? Of course you dont have to write my paper nor give me a detailed explination of how you would change it. Just some ideas and concerns you all might have on something you are concerned / annoyed about. NO I DONT WANT TO HEAR SALARY INCREASES, or that sexual harrasement should not be a concern.......... i know everyone has something steaming up inside of them that they hate about their office... lets get it out!!

ex: the sales and receiving department have a lack of communication and under / over stock the warehouse.... the supply chain has too many tiers. etc etc

It sounds like you've already got a bunch of good ideas! I'm an OD Consultant so I'll write from my experience. First, whatever problem is identified must be professionally diagnosed--the presenting problem is often only a symptom of the real problem. In your paper, before you suggest implementing change, indicate that you have verified the cause of the problem.

Here are a few real-life examples of problems I was contracted to help resolve:

Revenue increased but profit declined.

Costly computer based training was developed to save the expense of classroom training, but the sales staff stopped using it.

Customer due dates were constantly missed.

As you can see, there are any number of reasons these problems might occur. You'll score big points with your professor if you include as part of your change initiative the earlier diagnostic steps that get to the root cause of the problem. And you'll be a better manager after you graduate.

Good luck!
