Benefits of pen grips for students with physical disability's?

Hi all,
I am writing a report on assistive technology and must relate to the most basic types of tools used to assist students with disabilities one of them being the use of a pen grip.
Could someone please inform me on the benefits of using a pen grip and for which type Disability it would be most useful for?
Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated

A pen grip may be utilized with students that have difficulty with fine motor (using small muscles groups such as the fingers and hands) skills (coordination) as the grip may help with control while writing and correct pencil grasp. Children with neurological problems such as Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) or cerebral palsy (CP) and developmental delays may have trouble with fine motor coordination. Those with fine motor difficulties may also have trouble with hand-eye coordination and show clumsiness.

Regarding fine motor difficulties in children, here is a site that talks about "Why Students Need Fine Motor Skills": http://teachers.net/gazette/FEB02/fedele.html
