Showing VS. Telling; how can I start writing in the former?

One of the curses of being an IB student is the amount of assignments and essays we have to write. I think that's probably why my writing style has changed a lot to telling rather than showing.

As advice for writers people constantly stress the importance of showing rather than telling. My question is how can we learn to do that?

I want to rediscover writing so I'm curious about a lot of things. I've been paying attention to my writing as of late and I notice that all I ever do is report what happens, making my words feel so cold and detached.

Is there any advice, resources or examples you could give me to help me better understand how I can "show" what happens rather than tell?
