How has Hammurabi's code of laws impacted civilization throughout history?
Ok, this is NOT a question on my history homework, and I am NOT asking you to do my homework. I am writing a report on Hammurabi and his code of laws. I want to focus on how the code of laws changed not only ancient Babylonian society, but impacted history. Any ideas/info?
H's code had the first laws that protected women, declared govt. compensation for people who had been robbed, set laws/restrictions on interest/money lending, and punishment if you were to mess up on your job and cause injury/death. Also, since these were the first recorded laws, the future of law was built off of them. Basically, future generations improved on them.
