Writing Effective Reports

writing effective reports"writing effective reports"
Im writing a book report on Stephen kings misery but need i help?!!?!?

Im a bit stuck and i don't know where to start here are the questions i have to answer if you could give me a few pointers on how to go around answering them that would be great :)

1. What genre is the book,
What style is it written e.g first second person and how does it make the book effective.

2.Pick out 2 key events from the book and comment on the use of language

3.Pick out 2 main characters and focus on detail, what are we suppose to think about the character how do they speak and how are they described?

4.Is there a message behind the story of the book, is it trying to teach us something?

.. Thanks
ive read the book..

I agree with the others. If you've read the book, you'll know the answers to all of these questions. If you have truly read the book, I will rephrase the questions to help, but I wont answer them for you.

1) Is it dramatic? drama
Is it funny or satirical? comedy
These are the only two true genres as everything else falls beneath them, but...
Is it scary: horror
Is it actiony? action
Is it thrilling? thriller

Is it from a main character's POV (do they use "I")? first person
Is it focused on the main character, but not first person? First person omniscient (most likely)
Is it from an all seeing perspective? Third person omniscient

What was the purpose of this point of view?

2) Something big caused the events, the protagonist did two MAJOR things to the antagonist. The protagonist also did two horrible things to two secondary characters. There was also a climax. You know what all of these are. Those are 5 events right off the bat. They each use a different style depending on who the actions were between. This is easy.

3) There are only two main characters. You dont have a lot of choice here. The entire novel focuses on them, it should not be hard to tell of the impression they give.

4) Why did King write it (other than his fear), IF he had a reason? This is always a cheap question because King often states that he doesnt go in with the intention of symbolism or messages (as most authors do).

I'll give you that one, but your teacher wont like it. King wrote it only because he had the nightmare of this happening to him. he got a thrill out of it, but never intended for it to have a moral. So no it isnt trying to teach us anything. If that's not good enough, say that the lesson is not to drive in the winter and that you should never pursue your dreams and become famous because you will get your body parts removed by psycho fans.

You should be able to do this with no problems whatsoever.
