The physics-based visit I was a part of was a trip to the engineering department of Queen Mary, University of London. The implication of this visit was that it would hopefully extend the knowledge of the class on the short unit we have covered - “Spare Part Surgery. This is because the university is globally renowned for its speciality in mechanical, aeronautical and medical engineering; the three courses cover central ideas for the unit studied in class.

Here's a slight rewrite:

I was part of a physics trip to the engineering department of Queen Mary, University of London.
