How does filing an accident report work in minor car accidents?
I spun on the road and hit a truck, but the police officer on scene wrote in the report that there wasn't enough damage done to either car to file a report. I'm off the hook with the police department, but my question is whether or not the other party can still file a claim with the insurance company and jack my insurance up. I'm certain they would, since they felt the need to call the police in the first place. I get that I hit them, so I don't want to hear anyone get preachy about how it was my fault and that I need take whatever comes, I'm just was wondering if anyone knows exactly how this sort of thing works because I'd prefer not to overlook anything accidentally.
You need to go to the police department "ASAP" and file the report yourself..........the police department will have the officers name that first responded and yes the other person could file against you and hammer your insurance......
After you get this done call your insurance company and give them a statement as too what happened.....
