A question about corporations?

Is this correct for corporations or is this a different business structure? Im trying to write a report about benefits of corporations but I do not want to write false information.

AN example, If one was to open up an oil change company for motor vehicles, they may decide to incorporate with a company such as Jiffy Lube or Valvoline, so that they can benefit from the credibility of the name.

The act of incorporating is essentially the creation of an artificial person who will live on forever or until intentionally "destroyed". The idea is that any real persons can mange the affairs of the corporation, and the management can pass from one person to another at any time, subject to state laws. One benefit of all this is that the shareholders/managers have a measure of protection from personal liability.

To answer your question directly, each corporation must have unique characteristics, which includes the name. Since Jiffy Lube and Valvoline are names of corporations (or at least trademarks or service marks), you cannot use them without permission. Many corporations, from Jiffy Lube to McDonalds, sell franchises which include help with the business and the right to use their name.
