Writing Students Reports

Why are those sites that sell written essays and papers to students even allowed?

They do nothing but harm everyone involved. The student is not learning what they should be learning. Even if it is just a book report, these assignments teach students to work hard and how to push themselves to do tasks that they may not really feel like doing. Not to mention, these students are going to be the ones who are running our society in the future. Nobody wants to have a doctor who paid someone else to write his or her term paper. These sites should be banned. Why are they even allowed?

Well, there's no real governing body for the internet, so people can put up pretty much any sites that they want to, with whatever content that they please. There's no agency to ban the sites, really. The companies who host those sites are apparently OK with the sleaziness of the businesses.

Teachers and schools do have several of their own sites, where they can submit samples of an essay to see if it's a canned essay. Even before the internet, teachers could usually tell if an essay was written by someone else. If a mediocre student turns in a brilliant essay, then teachers get suspicious.

Yes, the students are doing themselves a disservice, but you couldn't convince most of them of this at the time.
