The Fundamentals Of Essay Writing,Introducing The Advantages Of Better Essay Writing Skills,Arming Yourself With Better Essay Writing Skills by Danny Ricks
The process of our education starts down a smooth road. We were basically taught by our parents from when we were born up until we started school, learning and observing the world as we went. Then the next step was to go to school, where we met teachers dedicated to teaching us the basics of colors and letters, of numbers and shapes. Prep school gave you a lot of time to play, because it was also a part of your learning experience, as a child. The lighter workload would not frighten the student from class, but encourage him or her to the joys of education. When these children grow up to be in high school, all bets were off. These were the times when you would really be thinking between hanging out with your friends and finishing that ten-page essay. For most students, essay writing is an uphill climb.
Writing is a required skill in high school. The ability to string words together to form a sentence, build up sentences to become paragraphs, and arrange paragraphs to form a cohesive write-up. These exercises also basically taught us to have a readable penmanship. How would our teacher understand what you really meant by these things if they are just incomprehensible scribbles? But writing is not just confined to communicating. It can also be a form of high art for some people. There are some with a gift of crafting beautiful sentences that ring clearly what the author wants to say. Combine this with a wide vocabulary and a readable penmanship and you would be the language teacher's favorite in no time.
Students are bound to come across some essay writing assignments or exercises. This is because teachers know how to gauge the amount of information the students have retained from the topics they have discussed if the students know how to put these in their own words. Another benefit of pen and paper writing is the reduction of plagiaristic tendencies by students from other works. When students are left with an essay for homework there is always the temptation of copying and pasting from online sources and from books. But if these same students are tasked to make essays in the classroom, like in an exam for example, they are left to their own devices. They will rely instead on their memory or what they have retained in their studies. While there are students who feel comfortable with their writing abilities, some will find this exercise daunting and lose interest early on. We can make them rethink their stance with writing modules that are easy to learn.
This module or teaching guide will help the student in developing a better study habit. As one grows up to be a teenager, there is that point of time when we rebel against the things that are taught to us. Often included in these mini-rebellions is the proper way of taking down notes in class, outlining the subject matter discussed, how to construct a proper essay and lays down the important points, and how to hook the reader by starting with a good intro.
Showing these students that good essay writing skill can be attained and will not need excessively technical reeducation is not that difficult. It all boils down to some very fundamental concepts, one of which is the ability to focus on a given topic. If the subject is given before the writing period, background research is important. It should be structured so that the reader is hooked in the opening lines and everything will be cleared up in the conclusion. With these hints and tips, the next great essay may just be the ink between your pen and paper.
