What's the Best Way to get Better with Grammar?

With so many rules, and so many different names for the same errors, how does one become a pro at grammar?

Despite numerous classes on writing and editing, I still find that I can only remember very basic grammar rules. I recognize bad and good writing patterns, and I know how to fix them, but I can't tell someone. This is scary because I want to pursue technical writing at college. I do well on assignments but I hear companies will have people take writing and grammar tests. Despite countless hours practicing, many names and concepts do not stick. If you have experience, what do you recommend?
Meke ~ that's very true about studying another language. In studying non Gaelic Irish and French, I understood English concepts better.

Teaching something will make you an expert. Volunteer to teach an English as a Foreign Language class in your city or town. There is a huge need for people willing to help. I guarantee you'll learn the ins and outs of grammar as well as learning the nuances of English.

Don't forget the old adage that practice makes perfect. Actually, my teacher correctly added that perfect practice makes perfect. If you want to improve your writing you'll need to write. Contribute to a blog and ask that your writing be critiqued and edited. There are literally thousands of blogs out there that accept submissions.

Finally, if you want to master your own language you should study another language. You'll learn grammar concepts and learn to see your own language in a different way.

Best of luck to you!!
