Are there many or good jobs for a person with a B.S in Journalism?
I have heard that "newspaper journalism" is going down the drain, and it's all going online. This worries me as a journalism major. Will there be just as many jobs, but writing online instead?
What sort of qualifications do you need to be a Web editor or technical writer, and would a bachelor's in this cut it?
If journalism is truly bad, are there good or plenty of job opportunities with just this MAJOR? (Something related that requires a B.S. in journalism or related, that has good job prospects?)
I'm basically just wondering if this degree will screw me over in the end, and if I can get a good career with it afterward if journalism doesn't work out.
Thanks.
My degree was in communications, basically journalism -- i have worked in television since I got out of college. Just got laid off from a mid-level position in TV Promotions. And am having no luck finding anything that I remotely qualify for. Take classes on Website development and you'll be set. Learn HTML, Dreamweaver, Flash, and all those programs. You'll be able to find a job tomorrow. I kick myself everyday for not being able to do this--YET.
