Help in writing a report..?

I need to write a report about a trip i'm going on, it's a contest and I want to have a good report, but i'm not sure exactly how to write it. I've never write a report before, so I have no idea how to format it etc.

I need to mention my perception of the trip before going.
what I expect to gain from the experience
the highlights of my visit
and what I gained from going there.

Any help and other tips, I would like to do a good report and i'd love it if I won!
