Research Methodology Report Writing

Using 'I' in project reports & Methodology?

If it is a reflection on research that I have carried out should I be using 'I' or should I still stick to 'the researcher'?

Also when writing the methodology should that be written as if it has already been carried out or as if it's what I plan to do? i.e. past, present or future?

For my papers I always write in third person, so write as if you have already done it.
So for example instead of "I mixed the solution together..." you should write "The solutions were mixed together and the end result was..."

And yes it is best to use "the researcher" or "the author", occasionally you can use "I", but keep it to a minimum.

Good luck.
