Written by Essbase experts, Sarma Anantapantula and Joseph Gomez, this book helps readers to install the Essbase software and launch a fully functioning Essbase database cube.
Essbase is a multidimensional database management system (MDBMS) that provides a multidimensional database platform upon which to build analytic applications. The new data analysis trend involves business intelligence and analytics which is supported by the Oracle Essbase better than anything else is today's multidimensional OLAP technology.
This book teaches users how to install Essbase software on an analytic server, and how to set up the Administration Services client and the client software. With various automation features, they will learn to build effective database outlines including dimensions and members. Developers will learn to extract data from source systems like SQL Sources or Input Data Files and load them into Essbase cubes.
By being able to build an actual Essbase application, readers will learn to create fast and efficient database calculation scripts, and extract data into reports or downstream systems by writing professional database report scripts. With help from Microsoft's Excel Add-In, they will be able to maintain quality dynamic ad hoc spreadsheets and reports.
