What should I do? I have attempted to contact an old account on my credit report, but the letter I wrote....?
was returned to me as undeliverable. How will I contact these people to find out what the heck I owe them, if anything???
Contact the credit bureau or get a copy of your credit report. Then dispute the item.
The credit bureau must contact the creditor to "validate" the debt. If the credit bureau can't contact them (ie, the address they have is no longer correct) then the item will be deleted from your credit history....end of problem!
If they do validate it, contact the credit bureau and request that the give you the "means of validation". This will tell you who the contacted, the name and address (and phone if they have it). With that info you can then contact the creditor.
