How can someone prepare / format a CD for writing files to?
My sister has a Windows 98 machine on loan which can read some CDs but won't allow her to open blank ones to store files on. If she tries to open drive E: when a blank CD is in it, Windows reports that the drive is empty. How can she prepare (format?) a blank CD to copy files on to?
You don't need to format a blank cd.
To copy files to it they need to be burned with a cd burning program.
Once something is burned to the disk the computer has something to read and therefore will not report the drive is empty.
If you don't have a burning program try Deepburner free.
Win 98 is supported.
