Writing an academic argument vs. a report?

Hello. I've written two papers now for my college English class and on each paper my professor has told me that they read more like reports than they do academic arguments. While I understand what he means, I'm not really sure how to go about fixing it. Any advice?

You need to state a point for example "Seal hunting is wrong" then you state facts to support YOUR argument. a report is more of reciting the facts on what other people say. and argumentative essay is your argument but try not to use I or Me.
