Calling all hardcore MS excel/word users....?
I spend most of my 40 hour workweek analyzing data in excel and writing technical reports in word. Through trial and error, I have discovered a few little shortcuts/tricks to make my life easier. My question: what is your favorite secret command? And why? Something that is powerful and time saving and can just make someone say "cool!. I didn't know you could do that!!"
Answers will be judged on 1) how esoteric, one that very few people know about, 2) power, (maybe it saves LOTS of time or returns a very useful result) and 3) creativity of answer
(We all know how to reformat text or insert page numbers into a document or type a formula into a cell in a worksheet. I am looking for something more advanced than that. think "vertical lookup" function in excel or "format paintbrush" in word.
SOmething useful I use in Word all the time is the "increase size by one point" keyboard shortcut - control + [
It might sound simple, but it saves me loads of time and lets me quickly and easily get fonts the exact size I want them instead of sticking to the predefined sizes in the drop-down box.
Macros are also very useful for any tasks you do often, but its too much for me to explain here.
