I am a security officer and my job is to observer and listen. I write short reports and I check that everything is lock and secure on the site. I have a license as well from WA state. My question is that, is this job going to help me in the future if I want to become a police officer? Is it going to be a plus and how good could it be?

Take some reserve classes and depending on your age become an explorer or cadet for the dept. your interested in. It seemed like that experienced made more of an impact on my acceleration through the hiring process than the security guard stuff.
