What's easiest path for me to make money as a writer in the short term?

I used to make $8K/mo in aerospace. But since being unemployed, I've burned through my IRA and life savings. I've always written, whether it's technical documentation or creative writing. But I'm at lost as to how I can use this skill to make immediate cash for my overhead expenses.
