Writing Analytical Reports

What is a 'REPORT'? 10 POINTS!!!!!!?

See, my teacher asked me to write a report. Does a report have to have a certain structure, as with Analytical essays and Narratives, or is is just information on ONE subject written in any way? PLEASE HELP 10 POINTS!!!

A report has three parts:

Introduction- Introduce the topic, and have a general statement on the topic. eg. Dinosaurs have been extinct for approx. 65 million years.

Middle or Body Section- Explain your points and go into detail about certain aspects of the topic. Split this body section into a few paragraphs, just like you would in a narrative. Take a new paragraph for each new idea.

Conclusion- Sum up what you have talked about in one ending paragraph, this paragraph concludes the report. You can include your point of view in the conclusion. eg. After stating all my points, i believe that dinosaurs became extinct because of _____________.

The structure can vary but that is the basic structure a report should follow. It is a bit like an analytical essay, but less lengthy and detailed, you can also include you point of view in reports.

I hope that helped, good luck.

:D
