how to report hypotheses, test statistic, and p-value?

students enrolled in an introductory statistics course at a university were asked to take a survey that indicated whether the student has a visual or verbal learning style. of the 39 students who took the survey, 25 were judged to have a visual learning style, and 14 were considered verbal learners.
consider these 39 students to be a random sample of students at this university. conduct a test of significance of whether these sample data provide strong evidence that more than half of all students at the university have a visual learning style. be sure to report the hypotheses, test statistic, and p-value. also check the technical conditions of the procedure, and write a conclusion in context.

so i got this question from my intro to statistics class but i haven't figured how to do.. please help!!!!!

The hypothesis here would be:

H0 (null hypothesis) : The proportions of students that are verbal learners and visual learners are equal (ie px = py)
Ha (alternative hypothesis): The proportion of students that are visual learners is greater than the the ones that are verbal learners. (px > py)

Remember that null is always the statement where the two groups are equal, no significant difference between the two. Since they come from the same group, so the samples would be the same, and proportion is just

This is a test of proportion, so use test statistics for proportions, which would be:
Z = px - py / sqrt (p (1-p) (1/m + 1/n) )
= (25/39 - 14 / 39) / sqrt (39/78) (39/78) (1/39 + 1/39) )
= 1.245

From the table of Normal Distribution, p-value = 0.8925. Assuming that you're using an 0.05 significance level, p-value > 0.05, so H0 is not rejected. (we reject H0 when p-value < the significance level)

Conclusion: There is not enough evidence to suggest that half of the students have a visual learning style.
