How to layout a Geography Case Study/Report/Investigation?

A major assessment for my final year of highschool is:
To write a COMPARATIVE REPORT which examines the ways in which cities have implemented sustainable planning strategies and policies to manage urban problems. This report will focus on Perth and New York city.

My question is; is there a set format or 'layout' of a comparative report? Does anyone have any suggestions or links on how to write up a really good and effective report? Any links to sites showing how to set up reports?

Geographers tend to use a modified version of the scientific method for reports. Section headers will vary, but will include some combination of: introduction, the problem, the question, background, hypothesis/expected results, literature review, data, methods, solutions, and conclusions. A strong thesis statement is required. Something like, "Perth and New York City have implemented different sustainable planning strategies and policies to manage urban problems and their results have varied."

The body of a comparative report can be formatted in one of two ways: all the topics relating to Perth, then all the topics relating to NYC (usually the same topics and order of presentation), OR topic A about Perth, then NYC, topic B about Perth, then NYC, etc.

Geographers also tend to use the APA format. Googling "APA format" will give you several websites with instructions and examples.

trying to write a summary can you help?

I'm doing a report on dancing, and need help writing a summary...this is what I wrote?? Can anyone give me any suggestions on how to improve this...i desperately need help!!! Thanks.

This study was to explore the many benefits of dancing. The investigation was done by observing a dance group, interviewing members, and collecting data from surveys. The main finding were that dancing, aside from being fun, is also an excellent method of physical fitness. I think everyone should know the benefits of dancing, such as improving circulation and toning muscles which leads to increase strength, endurance, and flexibility. It was concluded that dancing not only has many benefits but also teaches new skills.

So, I collaborated your resources into three categories as follows; Dancing : Physical Fitness : Flexibility

After a few moments of pondering . . . here is what I came up with;

This study was to explore the many benefits of dancing. The investigation was done by observing a dance group, interviewing members, and collecting data from surveys. After an extensive collaboration of resources many found that dancing derived from two processes of the human body. These processes are physical fitness and the exacerbation of excitement. Examples of numerous important benefits to dancing include; movement, circulation, pronation and supination of major muscle groups and an increase of strength over extended periods of time. Accumulation of these factors led to increase strength, endurance, and flexibility. In conclusion the benefits of dancing compound with new skills and the beautiful physique of the human body.
