Training for a Technical Writing Career Through Online Studies
Once your high conflict custody battle reaches the custody evaluators final report stage you find yourself at a new crossroads. Now you have a decision to make. Based on the findings of the custody evaluator you have 3 choices.
How do you know which of these options you should take? Let’s look at each one.
Accepting the custody evaluators report as is may not be as straight forward as you might think. The best reason to accept it is because it is written completely in your favor. The worst reason to accept is because you don’t like it but cannot afford to have another report done.
Accepting a report because it is in your favor is a no brainer. But the far more difficult choice is to feel that 98% of the report is in your favor and you want one more thing that is very important to you. You would be far better off to accept the report as is. The point is that you have an evaluator agreeing with you on virtually every point. If you negotiate a new item, you lose the opportunity to file the original report and more importantly the direct quotes that you can pull from for years to come. Besides, if you are high conflict this is quite likely only the first evaluation. Yes, there may be one or two more. You can ask for additional changes then.
Negotiating with the other parent can be valuable if you both have equal items to exchange that are important to each of you. I consider this to be an infrequent outcome. Do not negotiate if you are giving up something important and not gaining more in return.
Rejecting the custody evaluators report and asking for another should be done when the report has errors, like considering income as a factor, or when the report is biased. One possible reason for bias is that one of the parents and the evaluator did not hit it off. Remember that if you decide to ask for another evaluation you had better figure out how to change the report in your favor. There is a book series called "opposing viewpoints" used to be called taking sides, where authors argue for a topic such as "Is globalization affecting Latin Amierca negativelY" or something like that. Even on you-tube if you hear arguments, and write them down, it helps ALOT. I use to do debate and trust me I had to scour through 90,000 examples and sources to get a firm support on my argument.
Also, in case you are writing one, and you said you already know waht it is.
-Make sure you clearly state your purpose
there is no need to put big words in an order that doesn't make sense like
"In this story she was an observatory individual of the highest contemplated stature motiongin for reduduncy in profound achievements"
-Always adress negative points in a friendly manner

Well.....if you're relying on someone to GIVE you the job - no - there's no security.
BUT - if you set yourself up as an expert and create a demand where you see something that isn't working for companies - identify a problem for them and propose to solve it for them....then you just made yourself an assett to them.
So, what do you want to solve for people? If you just want to "be a technical writer" - that's not really a successful aspiration......it's a start but it won't be the end.....nor will it be secure.
WHAT....ABOUT.......working on instructions for companies that publish their instructions from China.....I know it sounds silly, but those company's instructions supposedly written in english SUCK - ever tried to build a baby dresser from those things? GOOD LUCK! You can hire on with a large company and help them with their instructions......not only will the english be correct, but also you can design instructions that stand out.....put a coupon on them.....sounds silly....but I see a huge demand for someone who wanted to fix what I see as a serious problem! There's lots of potential there, and you can travel as well....or....just telecommute and work for a chinese company (for example) and get the benefits of being invited over there every now and then.......those companies if you've ever worked in Asia (I have) love the prestige of knowing their english is the best....it is very valuable to them......take an interest in their idea and promise to make THEM the best in their field....what was your other major before you switched?
As far as job satisfaction goes....do what you love. What you love will have upsides and downsides....but - MAKE your career, don't go looking for it to be handed to you. Start talking to people in the field you want to work in - literally pound the pavement, and make some phonecalls and get to know some people.....that's your best bet and it will give you an idea very quickly......

The writing coach's client needs help with specific strategies to develop a focus for his writing (and perhaps even for his writing career) and then comes to the coach seeking additional help maintaining that focus.
Both writing instructors and writing coaches can help motivate the writing student or client. But a writing instructor develops the focus for the instruction he or she is presenting to the student(s), while, with a writing coach, the client is directly or indirectly responsible for setting the focus of each coaching session.
Think of it this way. If you know the kind of writing you would like to do, but you don't have the skills, education, and training required for this type of writing, then you probably need a writing teacher or instructor. On the other hand, if you HAVE taken courses, workshops, and other training and are skilled at the type of writing you wish to pursue, yet you can't seem to stay motivated or focused long enough to complete that book you've always wanted to write, or you can't figure out how to use your skills to develop a full-time writing career, then you probably need a coach.
